Two people have been arrested in Paphos in connection with a house burglary and an attempted break-in at a kiosk, police confirmed on Monday.
Officers from the Paphos criminal investigation department (CID) launched inquiries after receiving a complaint shortly before 9am on Sunday. A local resident reported that their home had been broken into earlier that morning. Investigators believe the burglar may have used a spare key left outside the front door to gain entry. Three mobile phones were stolen from the property.
Just over two hours later, around 11am, CID officers traced the missing phones to an abandoned house in Paphos. Inside, they found a 32-year-old woman. She was arrested on the spot for offences committed in flagrante delicto. She was brought before the Paphos District Court earlier today. Police requested her detention while investigations continue. The court granted a three-day remand order. In a separate development, police arrested a 24-year-old man at around 9.30am on Monday. He is suspected of attempting to break into a kiosk in the early hours of 1 June.
The incident was reported to police on June 3. According to the complaint, a man was seen trying to force open the entrance of the kiosk shortly after 1am, but failed to gain entry. The case is being actively investigated by Paphos CID.
