A 26-year-old Greek Cypriot was arrested at Paphos Airport on Tuesday after customs officers discovered 119 boxes of cigarettes in his luggage during a routine check.

He was due to travel from Paphos to the UK.

The cigarettes lacked the required health warnings and barcodes, indicating they were acquired tax free and were subsequently seized by the customs department.

The 26-year-old released after agreeing to an €8,000 out-of-court settlement.
