Limassol woke up to a thick blanket of fog on Saturday morning, in addition to  increased humidity along the southern coast.

The fog, which led to reduced visibility in some areas, was also clearly visible from the sea.

According to Kitas Weather, the phenomenon, known as convective fog, is common during the summer months.

Similar conditions are expected to persist in the coming days, especially during the early morning and evening hours.

Social media users shared photos capturing the low-lying fog as it rolled through the city’s coastal areas.

It is created when warm and moist air moves over a colder surface, resulting in its cooling. The water then condenses and ultimately leads to the formation of a fog.

Social media users shared photos capturing the low-lying fog as it rolled through the city’s coastal areas. Other users reported similar conditions in Paphos and Ayia Napa.
