A church service marking the feast day of the Apostolos Varnavas will be held at the occupied monastery of the same name in Salamis on Tuesday, the church announced on Saturday.

According to the archdiocese, the service will be led by archimandrite John, abbot of the monastery. A liturgy is set to follow on Wednesday at 6:30am.

The first service at the monastery since 1974 took place on March 8, 2014.

Additionally, a celebratory liturgy will also be held at the cathedral of Apostolos Varnavas in Nicosia, led by archbishop Georgios and joined by Bishop James of Ireland, representing the ecumenical patriarch on Wednesday.
