As part of its ongoing initiatives, Sophia for Children has launched “Preloved”, a new project, aimed at supporting the “Cooking and Giving” programme in Cyprus’ all-day schools, as well as its feeding programmes in Kenya.
Friends of Sophia for Children, are donating items from their personal branded designer clothes, bags and accessories—many worn only once or not at all—putting them up for sale, with all proceeds going directly to meet the needs of children in both Cyprus and Kenya.
The idea of giving a second life to a designer item—second-hand fashion—is by no means new. It is, in fact, a powerful trend in today’s fashion world, particularly among Generation Z.

The European market for pre-owned luxury goods is projected to reach €4.5 billion by 2027. The growth in second-hand luxury fashion is driven primarily by financial considerations, offering consumers the opportunity to purchase their favourite brands at significantly lower prices. At the same time, it is an on-trend way to express concern for the environmental crisis while supporting, with every purchase, a vital humanitarian cause such as food provision.
According to a BBC report, extending the life of a garment by just nine months can reduce its environmental impact by 20-30 per cent, compared to buying new.
The donated designer items are now available online, with all proceeds—without exception—dedicated to supporting Sophia for Children’s programmes in Cyprus and Kenya.

In Cyprus, through the Cooking and Giving programme, the organisation provides freshly-cooked lunches every day to children at 18 all-day schools and 10 kindergartens. In Kenya, thousands of children in urgent need benefit from the organisation’s feeding initiatives.
Every day, Sophia for Children provides 10,000 meals across Cyprus and Kenya.
This is a unique opportunity to acquire cherished, iconic designer pieces at a fraction of their original price while supporting Sophia for Children’s vital work.
The Preloved project is proudly supported by the Oi Dio Adelfoi Dry Cleaning.
