The government is encouraging everyone to go and buy electric cars for the sake of the environment but:
Firstly, is there enough electricity available to charge these vehicles. At present we are just about managing to have enough electricity to power all our businesses and homes (yesterday we brought in electricity from the north). What would happen if we had 80 or 100 thousand electric vehicles to have to charge as well?
Secondly, to increase electricity production during the nighttime the only option is to have a system of storage which at this point of time does not exist. This means a greater use of fossil fuels. Therefore back to the environment conundrum.
Question: do we congratulate the government gurus on their short-sightedness?
