A man was shot in the face while out hunting near the Karpas peninsula villages of Eptakomi and Galateia, the Turkish Cypriot police said on Monday.

The man, named as 44-year-old Acar Tezer, was according to the Turkish Cypriot police “struck by pellets in his face and various parts of his body”, with the shots having been fired by “unknown hunters in the area”.

Tezer was taken to the north’s Famagusta state hospital, where he remains under observation.
The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
